Photo Story: Changu Narayan Temple
Tek Simkhada shares some highlights from his recent pilgrimage to Changu Narayan Temple.
Changu Narayan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most important archaeological, historical and cultural monuments in the Kathmandu valley. Located on a hill top 4 kms north of Bhaktapur, the temple is believed to have been built in the 4th century during the Lichhavi period in early 325 A.D. As such there are several stone sculptures dating back to that period including the impressive Narsingha, Lord Vishnu’s incarnation as half man and half lion.
