The craze for vaulting between terraces, off stairs, onto railings, roofs and walls is parkour. The not so common sport has been growing as an underground youth culture since the 1980’s around the globe. On top of that, movies like The Bourne Ultimatum, District 13 and Casino Royale has further popularized it. A small group of Nepalese enthusiasts, who name themselves Parkour Association of Nepal, have pioneered this style of sport in Nepal.
According to Asim Shrestha, the frontman of the group, Parkour Association Nepal has been into parkour since 3 years. The videos uploaded by the group on social media are undoubtedly close to any foreign – based parkour videos. Few vivacious and energetic traceurs are shown performing professional stunt sequences in drainpipes railings, Dhunge Dhara and wherever possible !! The group definitely need some exposure to introduce parkour to a wider audiences in Nepal.
Kudos to them for introducing this rare game of free running for the first time in Nepal!
