Nepal Tourism Board(NTB) has re-launched the promotional campaign named “Garmi Se Bahal, Chalo Nepal” in major cities in India. The campaign was previously run in 2010 as part of pre-Nepal Tourism Year 2011 national campaign. The campaign was officially launched on Monday by circulating a post in the social media.
According to NTB, the posts on social media attracted 70,000 likes as of Tuesday. “These kinds of campaigns will also be launched in other major tourist generating source markets more aggressively,” said NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi. “We have been focused on social media networks to promote Nepal.” Inbound from India dived 44.49 percent to a 13-year low of 75,124 individuals in 2015. In 2002, when the Maoist insurgency was at its height, Indian visitor numbers had dropped to 66,777.
Despite the downfall in tourism in Nepal, India remains Nepal’s largest tourist source market.
