Sherpa Dawa along with his friends completed Mountain Biking to the Upper Mustang, Nepal. Upper Mustang is an ancient Buddhist kingdom in the Himalayas. Once a forbidden kingdom, it has now been opened for tourism since 1992. It is situated on north of Mount Annapurna and Mount Dhaulagiri. It is one of the two main divisions of the Mustang District in northwestern Nepal(the lower one being Lower Mustang). It borders to Tibetan plateau on the Chinese side and dolpo and mugu on the Nepalese side. Upper mustang is more of a desert like topography. The cycling experience on this region can be one hell of an adventure.
Mountain Biking to Upper Mustang is not just a demanding adventure. There is so much more to it. The mountain bike journey is a path of discovery of civilization, astonishing mountain views , commendable hospitality and a lot more. Upper Mustang -a land where Nomads herd yaks in the high pastures, ponies carries your baggage, rosy cheeked residents toil the desert soil to make a living, Tibetan Culture is left untouched by civilization and on top of that a land with the most adventurous and audacious mountain biking terrain. Upper Mustang is undoubtedly the best for the Himalayan single track. This trip flaunts the very best Mountain Biking that the Himalaya has in store for us!!
